Jedi Force!

Okay so let me quickly blog about a celebreality sighting in Peoria...1 of my friends was a the movies (The new Rocky movie) and as they were waiting for the movie to start a guy comes in and low and behold it's Howie from Big Brother 6 and All-Stars. She talked to him for awhile and he said he was going to be a Club Reign the next night but Jim said when he was at work at 4play no one knew anything about it! That is all!

Holiday Ass Kickin'

Okay so the Holiday time is kicking my tired butt! With my job being in the hair Biz...I tend to get a bit swamped at this time. So I promise to start posting again as soon as I have a minute to breathe!

Anyone have anything fun for the New Year coming up? Is anyone lucky enough to get to go to the Bears game against the Packers on 12/31? See you in 007!
Gotta Go!

Here is a pic of Jim and I at the Jaycees Christmas Party...

Add another Dropkick to the list

So we just got our tickets to another Dropkick Murphy's show. Yet again at the House of Blues in Chicago. New venue for the Dropkicks as I haven't ever seen them here. It is one of my favorite venues to see a live show. It's a great line up...Dropkicks, Sick of it All and the Aggrolites. So I was trying to remember the times I have seen the Dropkicks and I thought I had seen them 5 times already but once I did some checking it was actually 4.
July 2005 Warped Tour Chicago
October 2005 Rave Milwaukee opened with Gang Green, Dark Buster and Lost City Angels
November 2005 Vic Chicago opened with Big D and The Kids Table
March 2006 Mississippi Nights St. Louis opened w/ Sick of it All, Horrorpops and The Tossers

So now it's a great line up because you get to enjoy The Aggrolites (SKA) with Sick of it All (Old School Hard Core Punk) and the Dropkicks (Irish Punk).

The downfall of course is the fact that I will be in the far back since I will be about 8 months pregnant! I wouldn't be suprised if hank came out yelling OIW!

I did think about something the other day...I hear bout people who put earphones on the pregnant belly and play Mozart and other soothing classical like music...and then there's me. I sit at insanely loud rock concerts. So if my son comes out and he looks like he's been the the mosh already I guess I can only blame myself.

I guess I need to get him the t-shirt that says "My Mom Rocks!"

Rock ON!

The Boys are Back in Town!

Well not literally but y'know I was amped up last year when Jody Davis signed on as Manager of our single A Peoria Chiefs. He did a great job and it gave us (As season Ticket holders) an amazing ability to be close to an American legend! Having seats on the 3rd base side it was awesome because Jody always worked as 3rd base coach. He did an awesome job which is why he was promoted up to Florida. Sad as it is to lose Jody Davis to a higher league...I was FLOORED of course to learn that Ryne (HOF) Sanberg was coming in to take over the Newly opened managers position! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Jim and I and friends were lucky enough to be at the game LAST August when they retired his number at Wrigley Field. Front and center in the Bleachers...What an amazing day at Wrigley. So of course my season tickets are renewed for this year...my hope is Ryne decides to work 3rd base like Jody. Oh... these are the reasons I can make it through the winter. Only 3 months to Spring training and 4 months to Opening Day.
Obviously I didn't quite plan this pregnancy just right as I won't be able to go to opening day. I am however still taking the day off work and watching the game on TV. I'll wait out my time by watching the Bears squeak out some wins and by the grace of god try to make it to the Superbowl. If our defense keeps getting hurt our offense is going to HAVE to start scoring more points to win. Hopefully Rex can step up his play. Monday night here we come...Bring on the Rams!

LOVE and other sports scores!

No School Again Today?

Well can anyone believe it...District 150 cancelled school again today! 3 school days in a row...this has to be a record.
Crazy Daze!

The snow a cometh...

So it looks like we all survived ..."The Storm of 2006"!
I think most people are shoveled...plowed...scrapped out of their abodes!
So I of course have to add my stories form the snow out we all experiences here in the lovely town of Peoria.
First--- I was utterly surprised that the weather people were actually right for once and we DID get all the snow they had called for!

Second---I did find it humorous that so much was prematurely cancelled...although it did all need to get cancelled...I find it interesting that just the thought that we might get bad weather sends some into a freakfest frenzy.

Okay so my stepson comes home from his kickboxing classes and he is talking about the possibility of a snow day on Friday and I'm telling him...you should just plan on being at school tomorrow as you are in district 150 and they NEVER have snow days. My husband who is a RHS graduate can live to tell as when he was in school his superintendent lived in Florida. Great place to be when deciding if it is safe for students to be in school! Well low and behold as I awoke at 5 in the morning and realized my husband wasn't home from work yet from Downtown. I call his cell and he is running down our street as it was easier to run through the drifts than try to walk. His car was stuck on main street in front of the 4play complex. His friend Matt gave him a ride home but couldn't turn down our street off of Knoxville so Jim jumped out and started down the 4 blocks to home. Stopping briefly to help a couple who attempted to drive to work and were stuck so he got them back into they spot in front of their house. So he continues on down and decides to go to our house we moved out of and get our snow shovel and gloves and finally shows up at our house. Since I am now awake I turn on the local news and see amazingly that Shawn doesn't have school. So I go down to his room and give him the good news.

The day of shoveling began at about 11 am . Jim took a bit of a nap since he was working all night and He and Shawn began the great digout! I unfortunately couldn't help since I am pregnant. I did however have to miss 2 doctors appointments and so stayed in and baked cookies and put up all of my Christmas decorations...I felt very Martha Stewart like...without the orange jumpsuit and shackles but y'know what I mean. Don't worry I had some sweet Rockin' music on at the time!
Okay so enough of my boring stories of the BLIZZARD that hit Peoria!
I will jot later about my friend Tracy's experience driving for the first time in horrid weather conditions. (She has lived her whole like in AZ and this is her first winter in IL)
Also I will tell about our neighbor...his garage collapsed after the weight of the snow on his roof!

Hope all stayed snuggled in!

Wednesday night Dull Drums!

Okay so I don't know if all of you all know but Wednesday Night before Thanksgiving is supposed to be the biggest bar night in the year. Well, I was all excited to go out...You don't have to get up early on Thurs. and you get to see tons of people in from out of town...I was generally excited. So after work I go home and take a nap...I know this way I can stay out later...with the alien growing inside of me I tend to want to go to be at 8:30 pm. (I know it's not very rock star!!!) I get up from my nap and get all cutesied up and off I go to meet friends and Recovery Room to start. Very good crowd at RR...chatted...talked...off to Johnny Vig's. Let me just say I am not a fan of this bar but we had to make a pit stop to meet my friends husband and boyfriend. Just to clarify those were 2 separate friends! 1st of all it was packed...Rachel's Hippo was playing(Great Band for covers) but it was $3 to get in...WHATEVER...then I order a fruit juice and club soda since I am unable to enjoy the adult beverage and they charges me $3.50 for this little dinky glass. More reasons for me to dislike this bar. Thankfully we leave and head on downtown. 1st stop Sullivan's. We sat at the bar and had a drink. Only about 15 or so people in this bar. BTW They only charged me $1 for my drink mix and it was in a large glass. So we go to 4 play next as a friend sent a text that he was there. We pay our $7 cover and low and behold no one is there. I would say in the whole 4 bars there might of been 100 people. To add to it our friend who was supposed to be there was already gone. So we think "Well maybe we should try ICONS down at InPlay. Let me just tell you this placed SUCKED!! There was actually a person break dancing on the dance floor. It's kinda crazy but the look of it reminded me of a teen dance club we had in Peoria when I was a teen called Stage 2. Not when it was by Landmark but when it was off of Willow Knolls. (It was called Confetti's at one time also) We didn't stay to long and finally decided to go to Sully's. Man this bar is under new ownership but it doesn't change. Oh except for the cover charge. They used to have a sign up that said..."You can always party for free at Sully's" Not anymore. This also brought back fine memories of being not so legal and coming up with every imaginable scenario for getting in this bar. Well we did hang at the bar and enjoyed the night but it was fairly un eventful.

So my question is...
Where does everyone my age hang out now?
I don't think it's downtown...I felt very old.
Is it Up town... say at Bar Louie?
Which you can just keep because I have yet to go there and not have horrible service and waited forever for my food and or drink. It's just not my place. To much "Keeping up with the Jones!" going on for my liking.
I should of just stayed tried and true and gone to my neighborhood stomps...Whitey's...Sports Page...and Castle's Patio Inn.
With my age I should know better.

See ya!

The Move is ON!

Okay so we are getting ready to move houses starting tomorrow. We hope to then be done by the weekend after Thanksgiving. It isn't the best time to move but I think this whole year could be summed up as "The Year I had No Control Over!"
Oh BTW We found out we are having a BOY! We already have names because they are after our grandfathers. So Henry Ward it is. I do have some friends who are insisting that I am naming him after Henry Rollins...which in my book isn't a bad role model but if I actually went with the infatuation thing the child's name would look something like " Gavin Hugh Mike Henry Jake Colin Blah Blah..." I think you get the picture. (For Reference if you haven't read many posts...Gavin DeGraw...Hugh Jackman...Mike Ness...Henry Rollins...Jake Gyllenhal...Colin Ferrell)
We will actually call him "HANK" although put together with the last name he sounds a bit like a linebacker instead of a rock star. I did find a great website and I am sure there are more out there but it's punk rock baby clothing http://www.punkbabyclothing.com/Punk_Baby_Clothing.php
I can't wait to do a little shopping there!
I will let you know if we decorate the room in soothing skull and crossbones!
Until next time...
And as promised to O'B I will try to blog more often!
ASTA!

Where does the time go!

Okay so I know I haven't been around lately! And by that I mean in the blogging world. So as you see I was chairing the Peoria Jaycees Haunted House and that about took up every second of my time while not at work. Oh Yeah... I am also pregnant so SLEEP has taken up any other free time I might of had. So sorry to all those who sit and stare blankly at my blog while I don't post anything. I have some comforting words to make you feel better.....Go Get A Life! Hehehehe!
So since NYC my life has consisted of the Haunted House. Since it is not Halloween anymore we are still in the process of breaking it down.
I did get to see a Social Distortion show at House of Blues in Chicago. Supersuckers opened up for them. It was great...EXCEPT since I am pregnant I couldn't enjoy the show from the very front rail. I had to stand in the back at a safe distance. Still a great show but I would of much preferred being as close to Mike Ness as possible! I also made it to Bloomington for a show my friend set up at Pauly's. Went to the last Cubs game and made it home to watch the Bears game. Watch the Cardinal's win the World Series...Whatever...watched the Bears kick some ass on the field...I'll take a superbowl over an undefeated season any day! Oh yeah and we are moving to a new house...not very far...just 4 houses from where we live now...do you think we like where we live? Shawn and Jim went to the Godsmack concert on Sunday in Moline. Breaking Benjamin opened. They also already got their tickets for Disturbed.

So I got some new tattoos...

The top 1 I got done at Freedom Ink in the Heights by Tim Beck...I kinda screwed it up as I let my tank get stuck to the tattoo while it was healing so the Nautical star on the right has to be touched up.
The Bottom 1 also done by Tim. It's my niece and nephews name. At this point I didn't think I could have kids of my own so now that I am pregnant I think my own child would have a complex if I didn't get their name tattooed on me so as soon as that baby is out and we have named it and I saved up the $ I will be adding to that!

So I guess I got yah all caught up...Hopefully I can blog some in the next month or so...JK

Chowderhead!

pics from NYC

This pic is with our friends from Ireland who were also partying on a Tuesday night at Iggy's. Crazy enough the guy in the blue stripped shirt is named Iggy!
Here we are with Phil our Karaoke buddy!

Back to the land of Living!

Okay so we got back to Peoria from the big ole NYC! I was extremely exhausted when Roxy dropped me off! Let's just say my legs felt like melted Jello. Yeah I know that is technically water but you know what I mean. I have so much crap to catch up on that I can't believe I haven't drowned in it all yet!
I have so many stories from NYC! Truth or dare karaoke at Iggy's. Our hotel being surrounded by CIA, FBI, BOMB sniffing dogs, and as many NYPD that you could possible imagine! So I hope to be able to fill ya all in when I get a chance! we are going to see Social Distortion this weekend at the HOB in Chicago and then the ever uneventful Cubs game against the Rockies!
So I'll see ya on the flip side!

BB Boring Finale!

Well it came down to the Final 2...I can't believe Janelle didn't make it. The last 2 challenges were set for her! She blew it on the mountain by accidentally letting go and then she had a had time on the fly by night. So it is Erica and Boogie....Pathetic...Who even cares if these 2 win. Boring boring boring end to all stars BB! Well of course I am still going to watch the end...I'm not an idiot...Well I guess slightly since I watch the stupid show to begin with! Won't everybody be happy hen BB is over and I quit blogging about it!

BB Final Four Already!

Okay so last nights BB went down as expected...Dani left...GOOD!
Then of course in normal BB fashion it was a day no one would expect... Says robotic Julie Chen...DUN DUN DUN!
So HOH was right away...Janelle won again(She's a freakin' machine)
She had to put up her nominations right away...well of course she had enough time to talk to Will the Puppetmaster ...who of course talked her into putting up George and Erica. Then the POV competition...It actually was really close between Erica and Will...suprisingly I couldn't understand Will trying to win it except trying to get rid of Erica. He throws every contest... he never wants to win...So he lost by seriously a hair. Erica took herself off and Janelle put up Mike Boogie in her place. Of course Erica and Will voted to keep Mike and they sent nice ole Chicken George packing...Strange enough when he was out talking to Julie Chen they mentioned some fried Chicken for him since he has been eating BB Slop(AKA oatmeal!) for like ever! So they bring him some KFC chicken and Colonel Sanders delivers it too him...now I thought He was dead so this could of been a very old impersonator but it was a very strange thing...Juliw Chens like we have a surprise guest for you...so you are expecting his wife or kids even though he is going to the sequester house...but his surprise guest was the old fat man in a white suit with a bucket of Chicken....Freakin Weird!

Check ya Chicken!

Janelle's back for another Swing!

Okay so I realize my allegiance to Janelle wavered a bit when she was acting like an idiot but it's back in full SWING now!
That girl can't lose a challenge!
She took herself off the block again with the POV! This in turn made Erica put up her best friend! BUH BYE Dani!
Will and Boogie are cracking me up...who would of bet they could of stayed in this long it is a riot!
Final 4 has to be Janelle, Will, Boogie, and George!
Erica can't make it this week...although she would be smart to take to the final 2 with you because I don't think 1 person would give her the money!
Well tonight is eviction night and the new HOH competition!
I can't wait!

Oh BTW, it's the last night to go cheer on your Peoria Chiefs! See ya at the ballpark!

Batter UP!

1 funny Thing!

Okay so I am not sure who has seen the movie...Clerks 2...But it was as good as the 1st. We laughed so freakin hard and I have to admit...I was skeptical about a Clerks follow up but I figured Kevin Smith would NOT even think about doing one unless he could deliver. Also it did take him 10 YEARS to do it so you gotta think..."He knows what he's doing!"
For any of you who haven't seen Clerks(The Original) then let me knock you upside the head for being completely out of it! Go get the DVD...Watch it ...Then come back and read this...WAIT then go to see CLERKS 2 and then continue reading this!
So there is a part in Clerks 2 where the newbie employee at Mooby's whos name is Elias, who I personally think is one of the funniest new characters I have ever seen in a movie. Well he is talking to a customer and they go into a hilarious skit about Lord of the Rings. Randal is, of course, making fun of them and I seriously almost wet my pants right in the movie theater. They kept using the saying from Lord of the Rings..."One Ring to Rule them All"...You have to freakin see it.
I will add that I did NOT see any of the Lord of the Rings movies. They are just not my thing. Not much of a SCI-FI girl...Sorry Britt! So this scene in the movie was even MORE side-splitting funny to me.
So a couple weeks later we are at Warped in Chicago and I am standing behind this girl in a tank top and she has written on the back...This is pretty normal as it seems to be the kinda in thing for "Those Darn Kids" to do nowadays. I read it and I actually almost fell over laughing and I think I actually tinkled myself...No wait I was so dehydrated because I had been standing in an oven for over 10 hours that I didn't have any pee to tinkle with...So had I been naturally hydrated I would of tinkled my pants.

So hopefully you can read this...This chick actually wrote it on her tank!

you gotta love a movie quote that goes Full Circle...Like a Ring Maybe...Oh No I didn't!

See you on the Dark Side!

Down with the Reign of James

Okay so I haven't blogged about BB lately...but that doesn't mean I haven't been totally obsessed with it! My life has been a little crazy so the postings have been light...Sorry!
So BB All Stars has not gone according to MY plan but none the less it has been entertaining.
Janelle is still the strongest player in the games but unfortunately because she trusted the wrong people she has eliminated all of her alliance.
Trying to get rid of Janelle...she wins veto...bye bye Kaysar!
Trying to get rid of Danielle...she wins veto....Janelle puts up Marcellas as a pawn...bye bye Marci!
Janelle makes a deal with George...James wins veto...bye bye Howie!
Trying to get rid of Janelle...she wins veto... bye bye James!
So I think Will and Janelle are the BIGGEST BB players in history. Now you can hate Dr. Evil but he is running this game. he should of been the 1st player eliminated and evicted but the power gods are on his side.
Boogie would even be able to wipe himself if Will wasn't here so he can go anytime!
I want Janelle in the final with Will...it is a win win!
All was good until Erica(loser and pathetic player of all time!) got Head of household!
Well this week should be interesting!

Wild Flippin Weekend part 2

Okay so I ended the last blog with me going to the Merle Haggard concert...
My friends Matt and Tracy had an extra ticket and asked if I would like to join them... I graciously said YES I'd love to go!
Now it was in the Civic Center Theater...We had 7th row center. Unfortunately we got there as soon as the opener came on and we had to climb over 24 people to get to our seats. They were not very accommodating about either standing up or even tucking their feet in. Guess what...of course we stepped all over their shoes. Finally we sit and listen to the opener. Great guy. Intermission to follow. Now let me explain a bit about the crowd. 60% very old people who I am sure were very happy to sit quietly and enjoy the show before their bedtime. 20% Younger crowd who love old school country and were happy to sit and enjoy the show before going out.(We were in this crowd) and then 20% rowdy ass crazy drunk young people who were there for a freakin romp with Merle. Now you can imagine the 1st and 3rd group didn't get along very well. I felt bad for the 2- 24ish yr old men in front of us...They were so excited about seeing Merle...They knew every song and were enjoying the cocktails. They liked to hoot and holler and cheer and stand and clap...all your normal concert going actions...group number 1 DIDN'T like this group much and constantly told them to sit down and shut up and they were ruining their night...blah blah blah! These boys were not doing anything unordinarily bad for a concert...Cheering right after and right before the songs. so it was a bit of Clash of the ages. Regardless...Merle freakin ROCKED. That man is a freakin legend...I highly recommend if you have the chance to see him in concert ...GO!
Okay so onto Monday...
Monday

9:30am Left Peoria and drove to St. Louis
(in car...Jim, Shawn, Cara, Mark and ME)
Shawn had to be at the airport by 1pm for a flight to Phoenix to see his mom. Well we got stuck in bridge traffic right before the river (55). We were slightly late to drop Shawn off but no harm he made his plane. (It was slightly delayed...WHEW!)

2pm Okay so the concert doesn't start until 7pm so we go to Union Station and proceed to waste 4 hours. Mission accomplished very uneventfully.

6pm Drive back over the river into IL to go to POP'S nightclub in Saget IL. Now I Googled the address so we were all set. Turn here ,go here, blah blah ...it should be here! So we are looking at an empty lot in the worst part of town. I know Google always says..."these are only for reference blah blah...check for sure." Well needless to say we got freakin lost in East St. Louis. Thankfully the sun was still up and it wasn't dark yet! We finally get back to the main road and we stop at a Citgo to ask directions. In front of this Citgo is a large Ad billboard for Pop's so Mark says "it has to be this way because you can read the billboard from here" I say "But the other side of the billboard is also an Ad for pop's...so I don't know...I'll go in and ask"
I walk into the gas/food stop and ask the woman behind the counter, "Where is Pop's?" She looks at me strange and says "Pop's?" Yes Pop's...She looks at me even more strange and says, "Right behind us!"
I politely thank her and walk right out. Geesh Pop's is this huge building in plain sight right behind the gas station!

7pm We get our Will call tickets and go in to the show and grab a spot on the balcony. Opening opening band is supposed to be Riverboat Gamblers...they were No Shows cause they got stuck in Vegas...Drat!...so a local band opened and they were ...okay.

Then Rollins Band came on...AWESOME! I love Henry Rollins...he used to front the 80's punk band Black Flag...He has been in a couple of movies and also writes poetry and has a show on IFC. I was very excited to see him touring with his band since he has only been doing spoken word shows for the last couple of years. I was lucky enough to see him more than 10 yrs ago in Tempe and you'll never guess who opened for him? TOOL! He is a freakin god! VERY intense and amazing energy on stage! He played for about an hour and 15 min.

Finally time for the head liner...X! Original Lineup baby!!! eXene, John, Billy and DJ! It was such a great show. I was even tempted to go to Chicago this Sunday to see the show again because it was that good!

To see a band formed in 1977... lived and played hard through the hey day of 80's punk. Break up...do all their own stuff...acting, other music projects, drugs...and be able to get all four members back together almost 30 yrs after forming and tour is just obscene! The fact that they are still alive and talking ot each other!

The lead guitar player and vocals is John Doe...He is more known now for his acting. http://imdb.com/name/nm0230335/
He was, if I remember correctly, married to eXene and I think when they broke up so did X! But they obviously are all friends now because they rocked like it was 1980! I highly recommend if you get a chance to see them you do!

So there is nothing better than 3 concerts in 3 days in 3 different cities! I should be a rock star...(at least I am in my head and that is all that matters!)

Okay so I have recovered from last weekend...so tomorrow I am taking a bus trip up to Madison WI for a ....(nope not a concert)...(nope not a baseball game).... a beerfest!

Can't wait to fill you in on all the drunken stories from that!

Until my next hangover!

Wild Flippin Weekend...

Okay so this weekend was packed full of fun...
This should be 3 separate posts but I am just going to steam roll thru the sucker and knock it out! Sorry for all you ADHD readers you might not make it all the way thru!

Friday Night!
5:30pm Did hair for the local production for Grease at Peoria Players

6:30- 9pm Took Shawn (Stepson) & Will (nephew) to the Chiefs game...Kerry Wood bobblehead night!

10:00pm Jim (husband), Shawn & myself went to the Pekin movie theater to see the 10:30 show of Talladega Nights starring Will Ferrell...Sadly it was sold out...So we chose to see The Descent. OMFG!!! This is 1 of the scariest movies I have ever seen! I highly recommend it if you like horror movies.

Saturday
We (See above K, J & S) drove to Chicago for a concert that night. We left P-Town at about noon. Our thought was to go up a bit early do a little shopping at Urban Outfitters...I know it's so corporate but I can't help it I love this store. Go grab some dinner and head to the concert. Well let me tell you about the traffic in Chicago. We were getting into town about 3ish. Does anyone else know what was going on in Chicago on this wonderful Saturday? Do ya...Do ya? Well let me tell you!

Lollapalloza in Grant park
(Which has become soooo Corporate it's not even funny! They had stages named after everything...The Tampax Stage...Preparation H Stage...Whatever I am so over it!)

Buffett at Tinley Park
Check my friends Angie's blog and she will tell you all about it http://sharkgirl22.blogpeoria.com/

Cubs game at Wrigley Field
Cubs beat Pittsburgh by the way

Tall Ships on Lake Michigan
I would of loved to see this but their was no way we were getting even close to Lake Shore Drive!

So as we are driving in we had to take LSD north slightly into the hood and back track and finally we were going the right way.
We showed up on oak and rush but parking was not even an option anywhere on the street! So we payed $12 to park for an hour and do some power shopping at UO. This place was soooo busy that their was a line to leave out of the revolving door! It was psycho! So then we were off to try to go eat at Leona's which is off of Belmont by the Vic...just down from Wrigley Field...Thankfully we made it and found a parking space. We ate some yummy food at Leona's and then we were off to the concert...just down on Belmont about 10 blocks. Parking not as easy now so we park about 3 blocks from The Beat Kitchen.
As we were walking into the Beat Kitchen...Mike McColgan(lead singer of Street Dogs...Former lead singer of Dropkick Murphy's) was walking in right behind us. Cool.
So we get in and the Vacancies from Cleveland are playing...Young group but a lot of energy!
Then the Street dogs came on...We were right at the stage...This show was off the hook! Mike is so amazing on stage. I was able to get a pic and a set list so I was happy... I also met Mike and got to tell him how awesome the show was.
After Street Dogs played then it was The Adolescents...Great heard core punk band from the 80's.
the Beat Kitchen has 2 shows on the weekends...So this show had to be over by 9pm.
I know I am old when I actually get excited about the show not being to late. We had to drive home and Jim had to work the Sunday morning so I as stoked to be getting home earlier...DUM...DUM...Dum.
I should of known better.
It took forever to get on 55...once on 55 we get stuck in about an hours worth of traffic when 3 lanes went into 1 by 355.
Then we got stuck into another traffic Bumble F%*# for about 40 min. By Boilingbrook when an accident made everyone stop and look and in turn start a traffic jam!
We finally get home at 1am!

Sunday
10:30 had to work

12:00 Did hair for Grease again

1:30 Friends house for a party

6:00 Went to the Merle Haggard concert (PCC Theater)

Okay so I can't finish the weekend...This will have to be part 1.
I will start the next blog with the whole Merle experience! Then I will finish with Monday because it's a whole experience to add to the weekend!

chat with y'all soon!

Why am I so Obsessed?

So this funny thing happens to me...and maybe any couch head doctors out there can explain it to me...now, I don't want to be cured...I just want to understand.

The situation:
I will be fine and dandy with my life and not be inclined to be obsessed about anyone in particular. Y'see I see movies all the time and watch tons of TV...Which by the way I watched the finals of World Series of Pop Culture last night and all I have to say is I, yes I, should of been on that show(R U with me Angie? Roxy? Greg? Dave?). The final 2 teams didn't even know simple run of the mill answers. 1 tie breaker was listing albums by U2...2 of them couldn't even name 4. I will give props to the 1 girl who knew the name of the ghostbusters car.(Ecto 1)...So back to the 1st problem..."Can you see my obsession problem yet?" as I am inundated with all this multi media I can go by fine just enjoying ... But every now and then I will get a freak obsession with a famous person. Actors I might never of looked at twice all of a sudden hit me with a ton of bricks. Now I have things I have loved from the start of time...Nic Cage...Tommy Lee Jones...Brendan Fraser...Cubs...Mike Ness...but this is different.

Case in Point:

1) Janelle from BB
I am not your normal "Let's hear it for the Buxom Blond!" For some reason when Janelle was on BB6 I was totally 4 her. 100 %. I would vote for viewers choice for her and wanted her to win like nothing else.

2)Hugh Jackman
I never even gave this X-Man another look...wasn't even sure what movies (other than X-Men)that he had been in. 1 time when I was in NYC and went and saw a play called "The Boy from OZ" Hugh played the lead and I was hooked from the 1st time he walked out on stage. I truly went home from NYC and watched every movie he was in. Tivoed his name on Wish list and even tivoed his London stage performace in Oklahoma on PBS.

3) Jake Gyllenhaal
Now I saw Bubble boy and Good Girl but he just never did it for me ...I didn't even know how to pronounce his last name. Then I saw Jarhead...OMG this boy was so hot I couldn't help it...I look for him on talk shows and he is always in US weekly and I can't get enough of him. Okay and I won't even talk about his performance in Brokeback Mountain.

Now the newest one...this just happened last night. We went and saw Miami Vice...I know you would of never seen this coming...I wasn't either...I actually detest this actor in his life and work...I have never been a big fan of his at all....I never thought his acting was that great and his personal life didn't rev my engines either...but seeing him in Miami Vice...the sexual chemistry with Li Gong was awesome and unfortunately to my own disdain....I am infatuated with Colin Farrell.
I can't believe I am going to go out and rent Minority report and Brand New World...I am so upset that I now love Colin Farrell.

So if anyone has any advice or understands my weird obsession with my out of the norm actors...Just let me know!

Till later,

I LOVE COLIN!!!

WTF Janelle!

Okay so Janelle USED to be my favorite Big Brother houseguest...but the way she has been playing this time in All-Star is pathetic!!!
She is all hanging in with Dr. (EVIL) Will and Bogie! Does she not know that they are liars!!! She has pissed off her BB6 alliance and is in big jeopardy with James after her...Which I might add James has become my favorite BB houseguest!
Who knows who they will kick off Erika or Diane...it doesn't really matter since...Will and Bogie are still alive and kicking...which pisses me off to no end!
I wish I was Big Brother and I could control this game...Wow that even freaked me out a bit!

You are safe!

I HATE Computers!

Sorry it's been awhile guys but my hard drive went PSFTT! about a week ago so I bought a new one installed it myself and have been trying to download all my applications into my new hard drive... I have yet tried to hook up the old hard drive as a slave and try to salvage anything I can on it!
I know that previous paragraph makes me look and sound like a computer geek but those who know me are laughing in disbelief about what I just said I was doing. Any WHO...I promise to blog later when I have my life and computer in order!

Chowderhead!

Oh let me just add...SWEEP!
(It is the only saving grace I have as a Cub fan. We can beat the F*#% out of the Cardinals!)

The Jeep Crash Part Duex!

Okay so if you remember the Jeep was crunched in front of our house while we were sleeping!

Here is the update...Please try to stay with me as it could get confusing. Please do not read this blog if you are slow(Jack), mildly drunk(Britt), Rip roaring drunk(Brad) or just get confused easily(Aimee) as this will throw you over the edge. I can not be responsible for anything that happens to you!
I will give fake name to all involved as to make it easier.

Rita / The Renter of the Car
Doug/ Druggie( 20ish man) in Rental who crashed into the Jeep
Cop/ The Policeofficer
Jig/ The Married man whose girlfriend is Rita
Randy/ The Car Rental Guy
Ida/ Insurance lady

Okay so Doug crashed the car into the jeep, drove away and then ran away. Cop shows up and gets the info on the rental car. Cop contacts Enterprise and find out Rita didn't take the extra insurance. Randy tells the Cop that Rita has been sober for months now.(HUH?) but was fired from her job at CAT for boinking Jig at the office. Cop goes out to her apt. but she won't come out she will only talk to them on the phone. Cop catches her in about 5 lies. " I don't know Doug...I do but I didn't lend him the car...he stole the car..." He does get out of her info on a small insurance policy taken out for liability only. Cop also figures out she can't drive her Tahoe because the plates were suspended for lack of insurance on the vehicle. This is the reason for the rental car. Cop calls Ida to check out the legitimacy of the policy. Ida says "Yes it's up to date. Jig comes in once a month and pays it the same time he pays her rent." Cop asks Ida for Jigs name. She gives it to him. Cop actually knows Jig, who is married and a volunteer fire chief for a small town. So far Cop has not found Doug. My insurance company settled with me and they are going after the damages from other insurance group. Enterprise is going after Rita for the full car price since that car was totaled too!

So that is the rest of the story...doesn't it sound like As The World Turns or something.

Hope you have enjoyed this edition of The Jeep Crash!
All names have been changed to protect the innocent!

The Reign of James

Okay so Kaysar totally screwed up when he wimped out and put up Nik and Diane... So Nik is gone. I was so nervous during the head of household but it came down to Janelle(Go Girl!) James(Not sure I trust him yet) and Danielle(Could owe us 1). What happened to Janelle? She totally flaked on the next question...she looked like she was just off in La La land. Then there were 2. James brought it home. Now, he is part of the BB6 alliance but boy he is on shaky ground as to his loyalty...I guess we will see on Sunday who he puts up!
Oh I know I am pathetic for watching but get over it...Summer wouldn't be summer without BB and TIVO of course...so I can actually have a life and be addicted to my TV.

BB6 Strong!

P.S. Sorry O'B I promise to catch you up on the freak show that was our Jeep Crash!

East Coast Pimpin"

Okay so I know I have been logging behind on my blogging(hehehe that rhymed)...So here is the update on my 2nd trip. After being home for 1 day from my Seattle trip I went to NYC with my mom to meet my cousins who live in Sweden. We flew into JFK and then had to get all our luggage and go to the international terminal and wait for them to get out of customs! It was so great to see them. I had not seen Lena and her husband Hassa for 13 yrs. It was also the 1st time I had meet their boys Calle 11 yrs old and Jens 9 yrs old. Pretty much We did your typical NYC tourist stuff. (they had never been to NYC) ... double decker bus tour...Empire state building ...Central park...Little Italy...Times square...WTC ground Zero... Battery park... you get the picture! For the 1st time though we took the Staten Island Ferry...which I highly recommend. it is free and it leaves every half hour and goes over to Staten Island. It passes right by the Statue of Liberty and only takes 40 mins.

This is my family on the ferry!

Of course we ate and drank a bunch too! pretty tourist places but they were just fine...Ruby Foo's...Amici's...Hard rock cafe... and 1 night we meet some other cousins who live in NY for dinner at a micro brew type of place.

This is the whole gang after dinner. Oh yeah for those who saw this shirt in the previous blog...No I didn't get my sleeves tattooed...it's a shirt...(At least not yet!)

Mom and I actually got our hair cut at the Redken Exchange salon for $25. they were having a charity cut a thon and brought in 75 of their national performance artist to cut hair... I got Hugo form LA and we have taken classes from him before and he is a riot...and My mom got Brian who is from Canada and also have taken classes from him! It was so freakin awesome to just sit and be clients! Hugo cutting my hair!

So that was my East Coast trip in a nut shell!
I promise to blog more often about random non interesting crap for Y'all to read!

So long Suckers!

Back home in the USSR!

Okay so not really...but I am finally back from all my travels!
Seattle was kickin' awesome! We tried to see Snow Patrol in concert but you had to be a resident of WA. OR, or ID to buy tickets! WTF? Oh well! We still ate like kings and lived like queens while we were there! We had some serious Mini golf happening...can you say 3 hole in 1's... oh yeah!

This is LT Emily(Cousin) and Claire(Cousin) oh and me...at the last hole in 1 on the 18th baby!!!

How do you like my ability at using my timer...?

We also ate 1 scrumptious lunch at Cutters on the water right down from Pike's Fish Market!

Hello my name is Crabby Abby and I think you should eat me! Sorry Pamela Anderson...this girl is gonna eat the crab!!!

We also got to eat the dessert voted Seattle's Best Chocolate dessert!

Does anyone else take pictures of their food? Please with a dessert like that I had to photo it so I could remember how Yummy it was!

We also went to my cousin Brians who lives on Lopez island...we had to take a Ferry to get there and he took us for a boat ride around all the San Juan islands and I could see Canada from his boat. It was sweet...we also got to ride his ATV around his property!

Ferry ride to the island!

LT and I also went to the SPACE NEEDLE and EMP(Experience Music Project!) The EMP is a kick ass music museum very hands on definitely a place you could get lost in! I highly recommend partaking in the EMP if you are going to visit Seattle!

This is the space needle in the background and the highly unusual EMP building in the front! The architect for this building was dong some serious LSD!

So to sum up the 1 st leg of my bicostal vacation...hole in 1...got crabs...met a ferry ...and got a needle in the EMP!

Good Times!

next Post East Cost Pimpin!

( I think it is funny how when I do Spell check...EMP comes up to change it to HEMP...HAHAHA I make my self tinkle!)

and Away I Go!

So Linda and I are off to Seattle...We will be back in on Monday. So then I work ALL day on Tuesday and go to NYC on Wednesday and don't get back until Saturday! Blogging will be light to nonexistent! Leave me some comments suckers and I will read them all when I get back!
Asta!

Hey did you notice I am Bi-Costal...What a Celebrity I am!

Na Na Na Na Na Na ....You say it's your...OH you know!

So today is my birthday! The crappy part is I have to work all day! I usually always take my birthday off of work but since I will be leaving for 10 day to go on 2 separate vacations tomorrow morning...I didn't think that would be a very good decision. I am wearing my 13 shirt in honor of my birthday today! It's the big 35! Half way to 70...over doubled 17...WOW it's a weird thing to look at your age and feel your age! I know at a certain point I am supposed to start acting my age but It hasn't happened yet! I do expect all my friends to start telling me if I become the scary older woman who thinks she is 19 and ends up on "What Not to Wear" with the scary Clinton and what's her name! Okay and I also can't believe I am up at 7am on my birthday too! But I had to get my hair done (The scary part is although I still do fun stuff with my hair...I HAVE TO color it now as the non pigmented ones keep growing in!!!) so the only time we could do it was this morning!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Vince, Jen, the Cubs & ME!

So even though it seems like forever ago I must let y'all know what I did on Memorial Day! A Concert? You ask...NO a Cubs game silly!

So Roxy, Linda, Matt & I got up way to early,...And started off on our journey...Well y'see Roxy was supposed to pick up M&L first but they over slept so she came and got me...Then we went back and got them...And then I remembered I forgot my sunglasses so we went back to my house...And then Linda remembered something she forgot her sunglasses so we went back to her house...Okay so now we are off! (R U lost yet?...No?...Good...You are smarter then the average blog reader!)
So we are driving ...driving...Driving. We get up to Chicago and get our parking spot. As we are walking up to Wrigley Field(Cue music and angel like halo lights!) we 1st go to the taco place for breakfast...Cause you can't go to a cubs game without eating the best damn tacos 1st! YUMMY!!!

TACOS!!!!

So once we were in line for the bleachers...We waited to get in and then RUN like the dickens to get the best damn seat we can. Since we weren't real close up in line we opted to vie for the left center last row! These are great seats because you get a back rest!
Roxy, Matt & Linda!

Now if you live in central Illinois you will remember how freakin' hot Memorial Day was. So know we are sitting in the sun for 2 hours to watch batting practice! Which is awesome! We also have spread our enough to not have to touch any skin on skin! It was to hot to be smooshed into each other! Roxy and I ate some sunflower seeds and decided to spit all the shells on the seats in front of us to see how long it would stay empty! Almost until game time until no other seats were left and then this guy came up and just wiped it off I with his hand! EEWWW! Unfortunately for his sake he then ended up with shells in his hair and down the back of his pants! Sorry dude!

Then right as the game was starting this couple walked up and asked up to scoot together so they could sit by us and Linda started to but Roxy and I were like NOOOOO! And the couple got kinda bitchy and I looked at them and said..." We showed up 2 hours before the game for these seats and you didn't" they were mad...too bad for them!

The Cubs played awesome and we had an kickin' time harassing Ken Griffey Jr. We keep heckleling him and he would look at our bleacher section and act like why are you picking on me and then he would point over to Adam Dunn so we all started yelling Dunn Dunn Dunn...and Ken was all happy and Adam looks over at him and is like Why would you sick them on me! It was really entertaining even if the story doesn't seem like it!

So then it came to the 7th inning stretch and Vince Vaughn sang it and he was awesome!!! He was there with Jen and they were in a sky box! He threw out the 1st pitch too!
Vince singing (look really hard up in the booth) HAHAHA

We ended up winning the game...and Todd Walker(Sigh) hit a home run and so did Matt Murton. Matt's homerun was right by us and later on we watched it on TIVO and we saw ourselves on TV!

We stopped at Cheddars in Boilingbrook and ate on the way home and then when we were almost to Roanoke Matt told Roxy he wasn't feeling good so she pulled over and he RALPHED on the side of the road and it was all foaming and he got some on her car...I was laughing so hard I thought I would pee my pants...and Roxy and Linda have bad gag reflexes so they were trying not to listen so they wouldn't throw up too! When he got back in the car he wiped his mouth with a napkin and threw it out the window and it got caught on the antenna so we were flying a vomit flag from the car!

So that was our trip to the Cubs game in a nut...er I mean sunflower seed shell!

Car Crash Scene Take 2

Okay so this is the other car...The one he DROVE AWAY in and left in an alley before fleeing on foot!
Jim (in Green ) is standing where the impact started and the jeep is on the left hand side of the picture where it stopped after bing rammed in the ass!

Our Grand Cherokee now looks like a jeep Liberty!

Here is the back view of the car...Notice the lovely door buckle on the side! We could only open 1 door to get our stuff cleaned out B4 they towed it!

...And the hits just keep on coming!

I have so many things to blog about that I can't find time to get them all in. Six flags trip, Memorial day Cubs game, nite out with my mom, Gavin concert, house party last night. But they are all getting trumped this morning for the kicker of all kicks in the ass stories!

So I was awakened at 7:20ish this morning, as I would never be out of bed at that time unless a serial killer was waking me...(oh or I was going to a cubs game or amusement park), by a huge car crash sound and an alarm going off. Sorry unable to give you much suspense but it was our Jeep that was parked in front of our house! Jim and I go flying out of bed and find our Grand Cherokee...Paid off in great condition would own it until we died Jeep Grand Cherokee...Smashed like no other in front of our house.
A KIA smashed so hard into the back it had to be going over 60 MPH on our little boulevard street! The driver drives the car away turns on a side street and into an alley and then starts running! Our neighbor was actually leaving for work and saw it all. She couldn't believe they were actually trying to drive away. Long story (even longer) short, it was a rental car. Woman in Dunlap had rented it and big surprise declined the coverage. The driver was not a woman but had the keys to the car. The driver had the actual keys to drive it. The detective is now going to figure out if the renter had given permission to the driver to drive it or if the keys were confiscated in any way. Sidebar...The renter (woman)...R U still with me...had placed some phone calls to the police station complaining about some harassing phone calls from an ex-friend who is a drug addict! Oh yeah it's good! I'll try to post some pics for all to enjoy!

Best BLT in Town!

So we went to my friend Roxy's house for a BBQ last Saturday night...It was her b-day! Then we thought it would be a good idea to go sing karaoke...Which in the morning we realized we must of screamed karaoke because we all had tore up throats.

Basketcase cracks me up when I am drunk. Lee Hall (from the news) was there signing and I took a pic of him and he looks like Will Ferrell. See below!

And crazy Mary at the bar...Always good for some entertainment! Then Roxy's friend Diane wanted to go dance so they were going to club Reign. So not my place to go but I wanted to make sure Roxy was getting home safe. Jim and I went but only stayed for about an hour...Actually we hung in TomCats and played the jukebox...1 of my favorite things to do is play songs that no one at that particular bar knows...So I filled the the jukebox with Dropkick...Social Distortion...Horrorpops...y'get the picture! Oh yeah back to the super long story on how I got to eat the best BLT in town. Roxy and friends were doing fine and they had a responsible DD set up so Jim and I headed off home...Or so we thought! Hey lets go to Sullivan's for a bite I said! So off we went...Sat down by the grill and were told they were only doing cheese fries at this time. (it was about 3am) Wanted a little more than cheese fries so I luckily used my charm to persuade the wonderful bartender Nate to cook up a burger for Jim and a BLT for me! As we were waiting for our food this girl starts going off on Nate about how long it has taken for her burger to get done! I am talking wacky crazy bitch going off! Her poor little boyfriend was out of his league with this girl! Even as they got their burgers and were eating she was still bitching to her boyfriend about how unacceptable it was to wait so long for her burger! Needless to say "Nate...You make a mean BLT...2 pieces of Texas toast grilled perfect...(although the toast cut the shit out of my mouth...But still worth it) 4 pieces of thick sliced bacon...Fresh iceberg lettuce and freshly slices tomatoes...Nicely done! So for your BLT experience you must go to Sullivan's on Main! (If I had my camera I would of taken of picture of how yummy it looked!)

As an added note...I have heard first hand about some disturbing attacks happening down by Sullivan's so for anyone going out downtown PLEASE use the buddy system! In the last 2 weeks there has been 8 reported rape or attempted rape attacks! That is all that was reported and at OSF for that matter! Please be careful and tell everyone you know! NO walking around downtown by yourself!

this PSA is over...Thank you for your time!

Chowderhead!

Congrats Matt and Tracy!

Okay so a couple of weeks of go our friends called and said "We are getting married tomorrow !" So off to the courthouse we went and watched them get married...it was great! they are planning on having a more traditional one in Kansas this summer! It was a "Johnny Cash" wedding so we wore black and it was so beautiful!
We went to Richards for their reception lunch and they got to spend the night at the Pere!
I wish for them the best!

You've been BALLED

Okay so from a previous post y' know about the giant balls and they have become quite a mode of enjoyment for us! As you can see Jim is having a great time laying his giant balls on Roxy's car! I hope the car was having as much enjoyment as he was!

Just remember you never know when are where but you could get BALLED!

Closest thing to being a celereality!

So my cutie putie husband...(he loves that I call him that) is in Chicago today...Why you ask? Well he is trying out for the Bravo channels reality show TOP CHEF. I know if it was a audience vote he would so be on...Right Brad? Anywho...we made a tape and he filled out the whole application... and he went to Chicago for the live casting. He called a bit ago and said there weren't as many in line as he thought but that it was slowly growing. 2 guys ahead of him flew in from Louieville KY. So I guess we will see if he can stand the heat and get in the kitchen...Wish him luck and salt and pepper!
To all of those who cook...we salute you!

The Big Giant Claw!

So Jim and Linda and Matt and I went to Great America Six Flags on Monday! Although the weather was a little shitty ...no one was there...which ROCKED! No lines...lots of roller coaster ridin! Plus the guys got really into playing the games too! After the bumper cars we walked into this arcade and saw "the biggest claw game in the world"(say with funny voice)! You could fit 10 adults in this game...so hopefully everyone knows what I am talking about...It's a big claw and you use the buttons to maneuver it to the prize you want to win and let it drop...hoping it will pick it up and carry it over to the bin and you get to take the prize home!
Well this game had large stuffed animals and very large dodgeball type balls with CUBS logo on it. Jim was hooked. He put in $5 for 3 tries. 1st try...he gets a ball...2nd try...he gets a ball...3rd try...denied! So now Jim has to walk around the park holding his 2 giant balls...So can you foresee what the day is going to hold for us...we became 12 year olds making jokes about Jim's balls...oh yes...all day "Look at how big Jim's balls are?" "Look Jim young boys are admiring your balls" "Jim's sitting over there with his balls hanging out" It went on ...and on...and on...
1 of the best was when Sylvester the Putty Tat came up and rubbed jim's balls...oh yes we said it...
"Look at the pussy rubbing Jim's balls!"
I promise to put up a pick when I get it so you can all visually see Jim's balls!

Battin' balls and taking names!

I won again!

Okay so if you read a very early post you know I am very lucky and win things a lot!
Well I had purchased a ticket to Mansion in May...a fund raiser for the Symphony Guild...while touring the Mansion, I bought some raffle tickets...Guess WHAT?!?!?! I won something...yeah!
Although the prize doesn't matter, I just love to win! So it is a CAT jacket and golf balls or something like that...It's worth $125. YEAH!
I think I will go play the lottery!
Play Ball!

Weekend at Bernies!

Okay so the weekend should of turned out so much better than it did but you just can't fool mother nature! Well we endured the freakin' pouring rain and cold sitting for over 2 hours in the bleachers at Wrigley Field before the sky cleared up and they actually played some ball...oh actually the Brewers came to play but the Cubs must of still had rain in their eyes. We lost miserably. Thankfully though we ended our night with a concert. My other favorite thing to do! We saw the Horrorpops at the Beat Kitchen. It's an itty bitty small joint. We went a bit early and had some great food and then went into the back where the concert was and The Briefs opened. they are definitely Londonesque Punk band with great songs and energy. The Horrorpops of course kicked ass...Patricia was so on and they are awesome live! The place was so small they didn't have a back stage so they had to come on stage through the crowd on the side. When it came time for them to take a break before coming back on for a couple more songs ...they couldn't leave the stage so they did this hilarious thing about acting like they were leaving the stage and turning the lights down and whispering to act like you don't see us...it was sooo funny. So it was a great Weekend at Bern...er I mean...in Chicago!

Thanks you and Goodnight!

ENJOY!!!

Where does the time go!?!

Okay so I was driving down War Memorial today and right past the stadium I see a huge crane knocking down the old Alwan Bros. Meat building...it was sooo sad. It's hard as you get older because you want everything to stay the same. I know they have a awesome new building so its not like they are closing and they kept the black cow so at least the feel will still be there but man it's hard seeing landmarks like that going away!

The Curse of the Cubs!

So I know I will get a bunch of emails from everyone saying "What do you expect...it's the CUBS!" I just read the report that my boy D.Lee is on the disabled list with a fractured wrist for 3-6 months!!! I mean come on...we are finally playing fairly well... our division is really tough this year...hello our top 5 teams are over .500 (we only have 6 teams in our division). D was such an important part of our defense and offense. Here we just signed him to a multi year contract and I know he is going to be back and when he's healthy he gives 110%. I really hope he heals right and is able to recoup from this but man this sux! Who do you think is going to take his place...Todd Walker? I don't know he has really just been excelling at 2nd...although he is producing at the plate. John Mabry?...Well maybe Mabry but who can really fill D's shoes or glove for that matter. Maybe call up Sing? He did great in Spring Training. Which ever way this goes I just hope the team doesn't go into a slump because this year was starting out good. We are 1 of only 2 teams who hasn't lost a back to back game! Well I will still love my Cubbies and cheer em on like nothing else!

Let's score some runs!

Beerfest!!!!

Alrighty...so the annual Peoria Jaycees International Beerfest is here!!! AKA the biggest bar in Peoria! If you are going to be out there...look for me as I will be drinking...aahh I mean volunteering...at the event. So it's this Saturday at Expo Gardens ...$10 to get in ($12 at the door) and a crapload of beer to try. Go to www.jaycees.com to get the complete beer list. I hope to see all you fine upstanding citizens...DRUNKS...there to help support your local Peoria Jaycees!

Cheers!

Score...Cubs 5 Cardinals 1

So we pulled it off...the Cubs actually won a home opener today...the game was soooo sweet. Matt M. was such an awesome outfielder. I actually saw a double play consisting of Matt catching a fly ball out by the warning track and hurling the ball into D. Lee on 1st base to get the runner out who was heading for 2nd. Essentially it was a 7-3 double play. Also D.Lee hit a homer in the 1st. If the wind wasn't coming in at 30+ MPH I can't even imagine where that ball would of landed! Let me now address the weather. When I get my pictures downloaded I will share the 1 with me BUNDLED up. I have never been to a colder sporting event. NEVER. Not even a Bears game in mid December. Let's just say I was happy it was a quick game and that we won! I also got to eat the best tacos for breakfast...Yummy in my tummy! Oh and of course an OLD STYLE at the Cubby Bear before the game.
GO CUBS GO...

Cubby Chubby!

So tomorrow is the home opener for the Chicago Cubs. Of course we have to play those stinkin' Cardinals on our opening weekend! Rats! At least we have Mabry. As it should be it is supposed to be bitter cold with a mix of snow and rain! The radio announcer said to dress as if you were attending a snowmobile convention! Nothing like some good ole baseball in Chicago! Love them Cubbies! Even if I turn into a popsicle.

By the way at the end of the month I get to do my 2 favorite things in 1 day!
1:20 Cubs game in the bleachers
7:30 Horror Pops concert at the Beat Kitchen

Baseball and live music..does life get any better than this!

Head Butt her?...I hardly know her

So last week I wanted to go see this local punk show. I first went to dinner with friends and surprise they had Margaritas on special... oops I started with 2 gigantic ones. So we went down to the show which was at the VFW hall on Western. Paid the $5 to get in and was swept back to highschool. Crazy dayz...so we went into the bar to get some drinks and it was awesome they had Miller High Life on special...the bar was a totally different scene then the punk show...talk about 2 worlds colliding. Show was really fun, met some interesting folks. my friend bought a demo from one of the bands and it was a cassette tape demo! that's so old school I love it!

Local Point of View

So I was on My Space looking for some new music to listen to and I ran across a local band called The Charter North. As it happens they were playing a local show on Saturday night at Peoria Pizza Works...Which I never knew had live shows at...its kinda interesting how each generation has its place to see tiny live shows...when I was in Highschool we saw a lot of show at Owens Center...yes the ice skating rink. They have these rooms in the back and we would listen to favorites like 7 seconds and caustic defiance. anyway so they are having a show at the pizza place. I decide to stop by to see what the local scene is like know. The space is really small which is to bad but the set up wasn't too bad. I arrived when a band was playing but I wouldn't be able to tell you their name because they never told us...so tip to new bands...let the audience know who you are every now and then. The charter north had a little merch stand going...I didn't see any other of the bands with merch...so after listening to the band I decided to pick up a CD...$3 not bad ...when I got home the only problem is that they had no liner notes or song names. I had to go on their myspace page and match up the songs...I still have one song without a name. so another note to new bands: make sure people know your songs if they are going to buy your CD. It's a bit hard to talk about a band and their songs saying things like...yeah that one song you know that goes like this...
anyway they are pretty good if you want to check them out.
Chowderhead!

Friday Night Lights!

So we went to Firehouse last night for some evening entertainment...wink wink...karaoke! the woman who does Karaoke usually does a great job...keeps everyone in order and gets a lot of people singing all night. Well last night she got drunk and it was so annoying because she let all her friends keep come up and sing. Now I do not consider myself American pile...er I mean Idol but I enjoy singing funny and entertaining songs. Pet Peeve? People who sing horribly depressing and bad songs. Criminal by Fiona Apple? Riders on the Storm... and anyone who dares sing Paradise by the dashbord light by Meatloaf just needs to be shot...it's an 8 1/2 minute song. Well I guess it's back to the Basketcase.

Life is a concert!

Okay so its Feb. And I have been attending a few shows this year already. Jim and I went to NYC for our anniversary and had a blast...We caught the weather when it was 60...Not like this past weekend where it dumped a crapload of snow on central park. Since we were in town we checked out what concerts were playing and found Big D and the kids table in NJ. So we figured out the train and took a a trip to Sayerville NJ for the show...Great show...opening acts were like highschool bands...literally...they sucked. Jersey has a reputation about them and they lived up to every stupid one. Lets just say 200lb men crowd surfing on 90lb girls...guess what your gonna fall to the ground. Also Armor for Sleep was playing at the Avalon on Saturday night but we ended up going to a comedy club instead and it was soooo worth it.
Last Thursday we saw Flogging Molly at the House of Blues in Chicago, Saturday Nickleback/Trapt in Peoria and Sunday Nine Inch Nails in Moline at the Mark. All concerts were well worth the wait! Coming up is Dropkick Murphy's in St. Louis!!! Plus is anyone excited about St. Pat's Day coming up! Tip o' the day for pat's day. Green shots aren't friendly on St. Pat's Day just cause they are green. and if you do said shots don't go home and eat fruity pebbles. They come up like a kaleidoscope!
Later Gator!
